Genealogy of Isaac Poulton / Isaac Polton andAnn Green Family |

Brief Overview : Isaac Poulton born about 1760 married Ann Green on the 19th of Sep.1782 in Virginia. Their son, William Polton / William Poulton / William Poulson / William Polson married Lucia Davis on the 8th of Oct 1803 in Garrard County Kentucky, Lucia also used the names Patsy Davis and Lucy Davis. They had several children, among them a child named Billy that may be my William G. Polson. I have also seen Isaac Poulton name spelled as Issac Poulton and Isaac Polton. Some think he may be the Isaac Poulton that came from England about October 1772 as a prisoner.

Isaac Poulton b. about 1760. M. Ann Green 19 Sep. 1782 at Alderson, Greenbriar County VA. Ann Green was born in 1776 in Monroe WV. Her father was Garrard Green (also listed as Garrett Green). Her mother was Elizabeth (Turpin?).
Isaac lived in Greenbriar County VA till 1797, then Garrard County KY, Madison County KY in 1810 and Estil County KY 1820-1825. Ann Green/Poulton was in Clay County MO in 1841.
THE CHILDREN
William's wife, Lucy Davis (also called Lucia Davis, Patsy Davis) was born 1784 in Hanover VA. She died in 1865 in Jackson Co. AL and is buried in an unmarked grave in Old Liberty Churchyard Cemetery in Jackson Co. AL. Her parents were William Davis and Mary Ann Black Pogue also called Polly Black. Mary Ann Black was a fullblood Cherokee. Both of Lucia's parents were both born in Virginia and both died in Maynards Cove, Jackson Co. AL. They are both buried in Proctor Cemetery at Maynard's Cove in Jackson Co. AL.
Lucy Davis had several brothers and sisters including Mary b. about 1782, Jane Virginia b. 7 Jan 1786, Nancy b. about 1788, William Alexander b. about 1790, Myria B. about 1792 and Rhoda b. about 1797. Most of them were born in Hanover VA. Lucy's sister, Nancy m. William Proctor and Jane Virginia m. Jeremiah Proctor. I am guessing one of both of them has some relationship to the Proctor Cemetery in Jackson Co AL that both of Lucy's parents are buried in.
Note several of the later children were probably actually by his second wife, Katie Allumbaugh, more info is below the list of children.
An Ancestry.Com Henderson board note titled, Henderson Quest 1 says the family then moved to Decatur County Indiana, then on to Buchannan Country Missouri. William Poulton's sister Catherine Poulton bought land in Decatur Co. IN in 1836 and his sister Elizabeth Poulton died in Buchannan Co. MO in 1847 after marrying James May on 4 Nov. 1809 in Madison Co. KY. This link to the May family is probably the reason one reference reports a book
May and Allied Families 1700-1900 Compiled by May M. Frost of 470 Holland Ave, Los Angeles CA in 1947Contains history and descendants of several families, including the Greens and Isaac Poulton.

Sarah is a daughter of William Poulton and Lucy Davis. She was born 23 May 1821 at Pulaski in Clinton Co. KY (or in Giles Co. TN). She married Samuel Rorex on 2 Nov. 1848 near Pulaski TN and after raising a family, she died 12 June 1864. She is buried in Rorex Cemetery in Pisgah at Sand Mountain in Jackson Co. AL (might be in a churchyard?).
Samuel Rorex was born 22 Nov. (or 22 Oct) 1809 in or near Pulaski TN or Rowan TN or Lincoln Co. TN. After Sarah's death, Samuel Rorex remarried, marrying Julia House b. 4 Mar 1824 on 3 Nov 1864. He died 15 Aug 1896 in Jackson Co. Al and is burried in Pisgah Cemetery. Julia died 6 Nov. 1918 and is also buried in Pisgah Cemetery.
Samuel Rorex was one of 11 children of William Rorex Jr. (b. 7 Apr. 1777 in Roane Co. TN) and Mary Polly Keys b. 26 June 1791 Sullivan Co TN, married 14 Jan 1806 in Sullivan Co. TN. Mary Polly Keys was the daughter of Samuel Sr. Keys.
William Rorex Jr. parents were William Rorex Sr. b. 1743, d. 1816 and Margaret Yose / Yost b. 1750, d. 1821. They married 25 Nov. 1768 in Rowan Co. NC, moved to Jefferson Co. TN about 1797, then moved to Lincoln Co. TN about 1808. William Jr. was a member of the Jefferson Co. militia in 1808. He may tie in with the Capt. James Rorex on the 1830 Lincoln Co. tax rolls ?. William Rorex Jr and Mary moved to Jackson Co AL in 1819.
Most of the Rorex information above comes from a 28 Feb 2000 post in the Rorex Family forum on genealogy.com.
