Products for Building Pet Enclosures

Cats and dogs tend to tear up normal wire screens. If you are starting from scratch and trying to screen in an existing porch or patio, we have Paw Proof Hanover Pet-D-Fence pet resistant screens that also keep out insects. Since it is more expensive than normal screens, you may wish to switch to normal screen material once you are above the height your pets can reach. Plus if you have a sliding patio screen door and plan on keeping your pets inside, you might want to consider to replace the screen in it with Pet-D-Fence as well.

If you have an existing screened in porch or patio, its best to line the screens on the inside with Hardware Cloth so your pets wont tear the screens out. You only have to line it up as high as your pets will reach.

For those constructing outside enclosures, its best to start with a tight Hardware Cloth mesh that will keep the birds out, then a larger mesh over the top which can then be covered with a tarp to provide shade and prevent bird droppings from entering. If you are building a fairly large area and want to be able to enter, walk around and clean the pen, it will need to be taller than you are.
